PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired two times late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
